Season’s Close

Dear Farm Members and Supporters – We thank you for a wonderfully full season in our 25th year of farming. We are grateful for the hearty support of the community as well as the inspired folks who come to learn and care for this land each year. People often ask with some wonder what we do our”off season.” One might imagine the farmer either longingly looking  out the kitchen window waiting for the ground to dry out or kicking back on a beach in Belize.  But the season ebbs and flows less dramatically than that and much is required in the so called off season. Even though we are not actively cropping, it is time for planning for 2018 – seed catalogs by the fire, talking with prospective apprentices, repairing broken garden carts and readying the greenhouse for the first lettuce sowings of the year that begin in January!  R & R is also part of that – storing up energy and a few extra pounds to spend in the spring.

Please consider becoming a member of our farm next year to eat well and stay in touch with the local season. If you’re on the path of learning to farm organically, apply for our apprenticeship program now.

Blessings to all gardens small and large and those who care for them.

Best wishes from your farmers

Debra, Bill and Lisa
