Apprentice Commitment

Sarah Assembling CSA BoxApprentices need to be available for an entire season from April 15 to October 31st, with possible extension. They are expected to work a focused 40-hour week, with optional Saturday Markets and receive 5 days off throughout the season. Applicants should be in good physical shape, especially in the lower back - many fit newcomers find it hard to adjust to bending over for long periods of time. Each individual must be able to take responsibilityand care in their work, as well as develop the necessary efficiency & speed required by any successful farm. Care, attention and detail are at the heart of this farm's work. Sara in the mist

Apprentices should also be able to communicate and work well with others. Weekly meetings keep everyone informed and allow for group feedback. Everyone rotates through a monthly chore requiring about an extra hour per week. Seasons follow a logical order: lots of learning in the early months culminating in intense work in summer then returning to a time of reflection, closure & hopefully, deep satisfaction.

Apprentices receive room and board, a $600 stipend, plus extra pay from optional Saturday markets, and Worker’s Comp insurance coverage. In exchange for their assistance, apprentices help free up time for training sessions and receive access and attention from your farmers.
